Lake Metigoshe
Drive down Provincial Road 450 and you'll arrive at the Hidden Jewel of the Lake Metigoshe Recreational Area. Once known primarily as a summer cottage destination, this four-season community has grown with ongoing development and now welcomes visitors all year round.
Summer brings seasonal camping, cottage residents and visitors eager to enjoy every facet of lake life. The area is known to anglers for its master bluegills, to birding enthusiasts for its proximity to the Provincial Park, and to families for its water sports, public beach areas, and playgrounds. The boat launch provides access to all three connected lakes, offering a full day of on-the-water exploration. While in the Metigoshe Conservation Area, be sure to stop by and say hi to Myrtle on your way to the lookout tower - and see if you can spot the hidden turtles along the Turtle Trek as you hike the trails.
In winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing become a favourite activity, with the hum of snowmobiles echoing across the lake as riders follow the Snoman Trail from Deloraine to the Turtle Mountain Provincial Park. When the lake freezes over, it transforms into its own vibrant mini-community of colourful ice-fishing shacks, standing out beautifully against the crisp winter landscape.
